The Journey
Set in lush, rural India, this lyrical, lesbian-themed story begins with the childhood friendship between beautiful, outgoing Delilah, a Christian girl, and the sober, idealistic, and inwardly focused Kiran, whose Nair family settles next door. They quickly become inseparable, and in time Kiran feels attracted to Delilah, but suppresses it. She finds an outlet by writing love letters to Delilah for Rajan, a local boy pursuing her. When Delilah learns the truth about the letters, she responds—to Kiran. As neighbors begin to talk, Delilah’s family flies into panic mode with arranged marriage plans. Meanwhile Kiran fights back, leaving Delilah in the middle of a tug of war. Director: Ligy J. Pullappally – India/107 min/35mm/Malayalam with English Subtitles

Wilby Wonderful
A story with heart, depth, and intelligence. A modern day take on tolerance, romance, and secrets in a small town. Boasting a stellar cast, including scene-stealer Sandra Oh as a Donald Trump wannabe, Wilby Wonderful tells the story of a postcard-perfect island community – except it’s threatened by a “menace,” some supposed gay cruising by the shore! The local paper is about to name names, and the townspeople are in an uproar. Falling on one side or other of the coin are the honest and hunky cop Buddy (Paul Gross, Tales of the City’s original Brian); his wife, Carol (Oh); the gay handyman, Duck, so named because he was the smallest kid in class (but has since filled out quite nicely); and the soulful video store owner, Dan, who just wants five minutes alone to kill himself! Everything is sorted out by the end, thanks to a grade-A ensemble cast, a nuanced script, and a touch of whimsy that’s as subtle and intoxicating as a sea breeze. Director: Daniel Maclvor: Canada/99 min/35mm

The Reception
Jeannette, a French woman, and Martin, a gay black artist, lead what initially seem to be idyllic lives, far away from the complexities of modern life. The film tells the story of two people mired in loneliness driven together by the same perceived predators—men and an abiding fear of simply living. When Jeannette’s estranged daughter, Sierra, returns with Andrew, her new husband, to collect an inheritance she has been promised, their fragile existence is uprooted. After Jeannette decides to throw the couple an impromptu wedding reception, a long awaited thaw begins and lies, motives, flaws, and deceptions melt away to reveal that nothing, and no one, is as it seems. As the reception nears, Andrew and Martin become entangled and many painful truths are exposed.

Sir, Just a Normal Guy
Screened to acclaim at gay and lesbian film festivals worldwide, this candid and courageous portrait of more than 15 months in the female-to-male (FTM) transition of Jay Snider explores both the emotional and physical changes of this profound experience—beginning prior to hormones and concluding after top surgery. Footage shot before and after the surgery captures dramatic physical transitions, while intimate interviews with Jay, his ex-husband, his best friend, and his lesbian-identified partner aptly capture the emotional and psychological shifts that occur during the process. With support from those closest to him, Jay’s experience is remarkably positive, though not without conflict. During the course of the film, he renews long-distant ties with his brother, but also faces permanent estrangement from his parents.
Director: Melanie La Rosa - USA/57 min/video

Loggerheads
Special Apearance by
Director Tim Kirkman

Three stories interweave to create a universal portrait. In the small town of Eden, North Carolina, a minister’s wife must confront her conservative husband, who has enforced a harsh estrangement from their adopted son since they’ve learned that he’s gay. Listless and disappointed in life, Grace makes a last ditch decision to search for the son she was pressured into giving up for adoption as a teenager. Mark, a longtime drifter who is strangely fascinated with loggerhead sea turtles, crosses paths with George, a fixture of his quiet beach community who for a time provides Mark the support and companionship he’s been starved of. Director: Tim Kirkman – USA/90 min/video

"A poetic, beautifully acted tour de force," New York Post
"Leaves a deep impression..." Los Angeles Times.
